Thyroid and Iodine Testing
Iodine insufficiency and thyroid imbalance are often interrelated and should be treated together.
Iodine insufficiency is a surprisingly common ailment. Since iodine is essential to the vitality of every cell, when deficient, it affects overall health. One third of the world’s population may suffer from iodine deficiency. It’s why common table salt is “iodized.” Yet over the years cheaper and less effective forms of this iodized salt have been substituted, reducing absorption. As many as 95% of patients seeking medical advice for other conditions may be low in iodine.

Thyroid
Thyroid hormones are crucial for various processes in the body: metabolism, cellular growth, and cardiovascular health. Even a small decline in thyroid hormones can dramatically affect the body.
Since thyroid hormones run the body’s metabolism, those with low thyroid activity will show symptoms of a slow metabolism, especially lethargy. Hypothyroidism – low thyroid levels – affects millions of people.
In hyperthyroidism – high thyroid levels – excess thyroid hormones create speedier heartbeat and faster circulation. Rapid digestion produces increased appetite which, in turn, limits the nutrients which can be absorbed by the body, causing nutritional deficiencies. These deficiencies are responsible for a host of other symptoms including anxiety, weight loss, weight gain and literally dozens of others.
Treatment
Both of these deficiencies can be successfully treated and their symptoms relieved. A simple urine test can indicate an iodine deficiency. A blood analysis is used to detect thyroid imbalance.
High-quality iodine tablets can be added to your diet, and are typically taken for one to two years.
For thyroid imbalance, a tablet is also taken, but Calmglow replaces two hormones essential to proper thyroid function. Many doctors will only prescribe a synthetic form of thyroid that only replaces the thyroid hormone T4. Calmflow uses a specialized compounding pharmacy to replace both T3 and T4 with bio-identical hormones that ensure the most accurate and complete thyroid replacement.
